I believe you can achieve this only on your second go. There is however a trophy for finishing this game under an hour. I would still give it an 8/10 even thou the puzzles become a little less logical and you struggle a bit more. The ending was a bit meh, but I did still enjoy the game play. After a few more head scratching puzzles, the ships melt down and Vella and Shay meet each other. You meet with a few characters from previous scenes like, hipster Lumberjack (he’s now into metal) and the talking tree (you make him throw up again) and even Vella’s parents who are searching for her.Īfter you complete a few puzzles on both sides, the ships, who are then on autopilot, travelling the same route, bump (I wanted to say crash, but they just stay suspended in one spot with no damage) into each other. Vella has to find a way of the ship whose exit was sealed off. Shay has to help Alex fix his old spaceship in order to help rescue his mom which was still on the ship / Mog-chothra when it took off.

Its very unique, I have not come across a game like this before. Overall its one of the best games Ive ever played, its little too hard in places.

BROKEN AGE HEXIPAL PUZZLE HOW TO

I’m not going to lie, I had to consult a walkthrough guide to complete some of the puzzles. I love Broken age, but don’t get me wrong.this app is a real time consumer.I had to look up tutorials on how to fix a hexipal or what pattern to crochet into the Space Weaver. For example, Shay wants to fix one of his hexipal bots by rewiring, to get the correct wiring pattern you have to swap over to Vella who is with Shay’s mom (who turns out is not a robot) go to the control room, and look at a picture that shows you the wiring. Some puzzles require information from the other characters scenery to complete. You now do various puzzles with each of them in their new environments. This then bring the two heroes together briefly before they inadvertently swap places.

Turns out that they were not in space, and that they were actually on earth and that his “spaceship” is Mog-Chothra. The ship then gets attacked and they crash. You took control of the ship and caught a few creatures with the mechanical arms of the ship. I continued with Shay’s side of the story. The puzzles got a bit challenging towards the end. When I wrote the previous review I thought I was halfway done, turns out there was a whole lot more for me to do. Use the clue from the family photo that Vella saw in the central control room to figure out how to. More so than straight comedy, creating worlds and characters is what Tim does best, and I don’t care what the naysayers say-this universe is fantastic.I have finally finished this game. Broken Age Act 2 Walkthrough Guide: Shay & Vella Final Puzzles (Ending) 1.

In classic Tim style, you have one of those rare games where you wonder what lies right outside the end of the screen. I love the universe created here, and while this might be a game created by an older, wiser Tim Schafer, one with a sensibility now clearly colored by his daughter, you can easily trace a direct line between this and his earlier games. The “I can’t use that with him” of the early 90's is clearly long gone. I mean, seriously, you can use the vast majority of inventory with the inhabitants of the world and get proper responses. Keep doing this until the left symbol matches the top left symbol in Vellas picture. If the left symbol is wrong, take the Hexipal out and relace the blue wire between two different nodes. Then lace the (blue) wire from one node to another and see what happens. The characters are all interesting, and the interactions you can have with them are nigh limitless. So, to work it out, lets first take off all the wires. A living storybook in many ways.Īnd again: This is a funny game, one which goes somewhat meta by poking fun at the expectations for “Act 2”, and at adventure games in general. You can tell which node is which by wiring the hexipal so that no node is used more than once, then placing the hexipal into the station. It is a coming of age story told in a strange world that is as colorful as it is desaturated. Look at the back of the hexipal - there are 6 'nodes' and each 'node' is represented by a different symbol when the hexipal is placed in the charging station. It is an adventure that consistently is funny, without throwing out laughs at every corner. It is an adventure, not just in the game-genre sense, but also as a story-genre. The reason for that is simple: It is not a comedy game. I have seen complaints, many for whatever reason are aimed at Broken Age not being a comedy game. Part of the frustration here is that the rest of the game, and this act, is so very good. At the time of writing we only have three screenshots.
